For my senior project at George Mason University, I created the Facial Hair Handbook. My purpose for this project was to create an easy access guide for men to consult when they have any questions about facial hair related topics. The book contains information from scientific and credible sources within the facial hair industry. The content within this book includes the history of facial hair, common shaving mistakes, maintenance tips, and 15+ recommended styles .
My Process
This project began with intensive research being done on subjects related to facial hair. Once I had built a rough layout based on my research, I began working on the design of my book. A risky decision I made in the creation of this book was to illustrate all of the graphics which would take dozens of hours. I illustrated over 60 graphics which was time consuming, but gave the book a unique and cohesive style that wouldn't be achieved otherwise. This book shows off my talents as both a designer and illustrator. I learned what it takes to be solely responsible for a long term project. I improved my time management and researching abilities with this project.
